From 2020 to 2022, Mystic Gardens was an exceptional immersive experience created by Tom Volf. A spotlight on the masterpieces of the Flemish Primitives. Passionate about these artists, Tom Volf spent years studying their works in the world's greatest museums, enriching his project with an original and interactive approach. Through a monumental scenography and an innovative sound system, he invited the public into total immersion: a visual and sonic journey in which every painting becomes a living, deeply moving experience.
You will almost feel you could touch the fabrics and sense the breath of the figures coming to life on the screens, thanks to Tom Volf's majestic artistic direction.

A 360° walk-through designed by Tom Volf around three masterpieces of the Flemish Primitives:
The work was later revived and expanded under the title Flemish Painters as part of the Jam Capsule Paris Expo program.
An experience of 50 minutes bringing together more than 30 masterpieces of the Flemish Primitives from the 15th century, presented in very high definition. The great polyptychs (the Mystic Lamb by Van Eyck, the Garden of Earthly Delights by Bosch, the Last Judgment by Van der Weyden) are deconstructed and rebuilt to reveal unseen details, brought to life by the sacred music of Mozart and Vivaldi.
Tom Volf created the work as author and artistic director, in collaboration with L’Atelier JAM / The Jam Project ATHEM for the motion design. Visitor guidance is provided by “i-Jam”, a bilingual chatbot developed by Ask Mona.
This first edition brought together 5 immersive exhibitions: Maria Callas — The Experience and Mystic Gardens by Tom Volf, Legacy by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, La Scène Infinie by the Opéra national de Paris (3e Scène) and Japan by Pierre Goismier — co-produced with NHK and Gédéon Programmes.
“A literally hypnotic 360-degree video installation.”

Some visitors were particularly moved by this creation, set to Monteverdi's Vespers of the Blessed Virgin, Vivaldi's Winter, Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Purcell's Cold Song. “You really feel as if you are inside the works, seeing all those little details you can't see at all with the naked eye, and then the music carrying the work is truly magnificent. Two minutes and it's over!
