No. 11 — MMX Svalbard — un voyage à travers le Pôle Nord
Affiche officielle

A photographic expedition north of 78e parallel, in the Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard — one of the northernmost inhabited lands. Aboard an exploration sailboat, Tom Volf documents the fragile encounter between Arctic fauna and the immensity of the landscape: polar bear at dusk, wild reindeer, seabirds, mirror fjords where expedition sailboats are reflected.

The series is produced entirely on film on Hasselblad, in the special light of the midnight sun.

THE glance

Exposure

The series Svalbard — a journey through the North Pole was presented in Paris in 2009.

The territory

Svalbard is a Norwegian archipelago located between mainland Norway and the North Pole. It is home to one of the largest populations of polar bears in the world, millennia-old glaciers and unique Arctic biodiversity – Svalbard reindeer, polar foxes, walruses, whales, and around a hundred species of migratory birds.
